A letter to wedding vendors, from Seehab
You've been sold listings, leads and promises before. So instead of a pitch, here is what I'm building, what I won't do, and what I'll put in writing.
I'm building Nodus to give South Asian wedding vendors one free place to be found, take enquiries, send quotes and get paid, with nothing to pay until a couple pays you. Commission is taken from each payment you receive through Nodus, and the money goes straight into your own Stripe account. I can't promise you enquiries. I can promise how Nodus will treat you, and I'll put it in writing.
The reason
Why I'm building this
Our weddings are some of the biggest events any family will host. There are often several ceremonies, a big guest list, and many businesses who all have to turn up on the right day with the right thing. Most of that is still arranged across WhatsApp, Instagram, phone calls and bank transfers to people the family has never met. It works because vendors work hard to make it work.
What Uber did for getting a ride and Airbnb did for finding a place to stay, I want Nodus to do for South Asian weddings: one trusted place where families and vendors find each other, agree terms and pay. We are nowhere near that scale today. We are starting in the north of England, vendor by vendor.
The offer
What Nodus will do for you
A free place to run your bookings
Your storefront, your messages, your quotes and your calendar in one place. You don't pay to use any of it. Messaging works today; packages, the calendar, the enquiry pipeline and the quote builder are coming.
A lead source you don't pay for upfront
No subscription, no listing fee, no pay-per-lead. If a couple finds you and pays you through Nodus, commission comes from that payment. If nobody does, you've paid nothing.
Your quiet dates, seen
When the calendar arrives, couples will filter by their date. Keep yours current and your free midweek and off-peak dates show up for the families looking for them.
Paid properly
A deposit to confirm, then the balance before the event, each paid directly to you through Stripe. Every booking confirmed in writing. No bank transfers to strangers, for you or for them. You set your own deposit and balance terms, and we give you guidance and a standard template.
You shouldn't have to pay for your own ads or a directory subscription just to be seen. Ads cost money for every click, whether anyone books or not. On Nodus, the cost only comes when you're being paid.
The limits
What Nodus won't do
- We won't charge you to be listed. No subscription and nothing upfront.
- We won't hold your money. Payments go directly to your Stripe account.
- We won't make you exclusive, or ask you to match prices you charge elsewhere.
- We won't stop you sharing your number with a couple.
- We won't invent reviews or numbers. Reviews come only from couples whose booking is complete. We won't publish vendor or booking totals until they're real, and we'll date them.
- We won't promise you enquiries. Anyone who guarantees you bookings before they have couples is guessing.
- We won't pretend features exist. Every vendor page says what is live and what is coming.
In writing
My commitments to you
- Your commission rate in writing: 3% for founding vendors for their first 24 months, then 8%. The standard rate is 8%.
- Commission taken only from payments you receive through Nodus. Nothing upfront, no subscription.
- Couples see your price and never a fee on top.
- I'll set up your storefront with you on a 20-minute call.
- You can reach me by email at hello@thenodus.uk, and I'll reply within 2 working days.
- I'll give you at least 30 days' notice before any change to commission rates, and at least 14 days' notice of any other material change to your terms.
- I'll ask founding vendors before we build, not after, in a monthly check-in.
