Two card payments, so Stripe's fixed 20p applies twice. Commission and card fees are worked out on each payment.
Over a year, at 20 bookings
Commission and subscriptions only. Card fees apply to any card payment, so they are left out here.
| Option | Cost a year |
|---|---|
| Nodus at 3% | £1,800 |
| A 15% marketplace (ShaadiSouk) | £9,000 |
| Bridebook Classic subscription | £1,425.60inc VAT |
| Bark | £1.80 per credit, no commission |
At this booking value, Nodus commission matches the subscription (ex VAT) at 14 bookings a year. Below that, commission costs less. A subscription costs the same whether you are booked or not.
No cost to apply. We reply within 3 working days.
Figures checked 30 September 2026. Card fees from Stripe's UK pricing, paid from your Stripe account on each payment. 15% from ShaadiSouk's FAQ. Subscriptions from Bridebook's photographer pricing; other categories differ. Bark from Bark's help centre; what a lead costs depends on the credits it needs. An illustration, not financial advice.
The maths
How the calculator works
Enter a booking value, choose your commission rate and the card type your couples usually pay with. The calculator splits the booking into a deposit and a balance, because on Nodus a couple pays a deposit to confirm, then the balance before the event, each paid directly to you through Stripe. For each payment it works out:
Commission
The booking value times your rate: 3% for founding vendors in their first 24 months, or 8% standard. Nodus takes commission from each payment you receive through Nodus, the deposit and then the balance, and Stripe deducts it before the money reaches your account.
Stripe's card fee
Stripe's published UK rate for the card type, charged on each payment. For standard UK cards that is 1.5% + 20p. On a direct charge, Stripe takes its fee from the payment in your own Stripe account.
What you keep
The booking value, minus commission, minus card fees. This is what reaches your Stripe account. Couples see one price, your quoted price, and never a fee.
£3,000 booking
A worked example
Illustrative example. A photographer quotes £3,000 for a two-day mehndi and nikkah package. The couple pays a 25% deposit (£750) and a £2,250 balance, both on standard UK cards.
| Founding (3%) | Standard (8%) | |
|---|---|---|
| Booking value | £3,000.00 | £3,000.00 |
| Commission | £90.00 | £240.00 |
| Stripe card fees (two payments) | £45.40 | £45.40 |
| You keep | £2,864.60 | £2,714.60 |
The 25% deposit is only an example. You set your own deposit and balance terms, so pick your own deposit in the calculator.

How it compares
On the same £3,000 booking, and over a year of 20 such bookings (£60,000):
| Model | Cost on one £3,000 booking | Cost over 20 bookings | Charged when you're not booked? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nodus founding, 3% | £90 | £1,800 | No |
| Nodus standard, 8% | £240 | £4,800 | No |
| ShaadiSouk, 15% commission¹ | £450 | £9,000 | No |
| Bridebook Classic, photographers, £99/month + VAT² | n/a | £1,188 + VAT a year | Yes |
| Bridebook Basic, photographers, £20/month + VAT² | n/a | £240 + VAT a year | Yes |
| Bark, £1.80 per credit, no commission³ | depends on credits used per lead | depends on leads bought | Yes, per lead contacted |
Card fees are left out of this table because they apply whenever a couple pays you by card, whichever site found you.

Questions
Commission is taken from each payment you receive through Nodus: the deposit and then the balance. Founding vendors pay 3% for their first 24 months, then 8%. The standard rate is 8%. There is no subscription and no listing charge.
Stripe's UK pricing page lists 1.5% + 20p for standard UK cards and 2.8% + 20p for premium UK cards, with higher rates for EEA and international cards (checked 30 September 2026).
No. Couples pay your quoted price and never see a fee. Commission comes out of the booking on your side, at settlement.
It depends on how many bookings you win. A subscription costs the same whether you're booked or not. Commission costs nothing until a couple pays you, but on a large booking it can cost more than a subscription or pay-per-lead site. The calculator shows both for your numbers.
Because the couple pays twice: a deposit to confirm, then the balance before the event. Each card payment carries Stripe's fixed 20p as well as the percentage.
