Nodus for wedding DJs and dhol players

A dhol player might do three entrances in one Saturday. A DJ might play a mehndi, a wedding and a walima in one weekend. Nodus is being built for diaries like yours.

Price a half-hour entrance and an all-night set separately, get enquiries for dates you can play, and take a deposit then the balance straight into your own Stripe account. You pay nothing upfront: commission comes out of each payment you receive through Nodus. The calendar and part-day slots are coming.

How music bookings work for South Asian weddings

  • Short slots and long sets. A baraat entrance, a milni, a bride's entrance, a sangeet or mehndi night, a full reception. Some bookings last half an hour, some all evening.
  • Many bookings a weekend. Saturday is the busiest day to marry in England and Wales (41.9% of marriages in 2023, ONS). Travel time between venues decides how many you can take.
  • Families book both. Dhol for the entrances and a DJ for the night, or a DJ with a live dhol player. Say who you work with.
  • Venues have rules. Finish times, sound limits and set-up access vary. If venues ask for insurance or electrical test certificates, keep them ready to send.
  • The season has a rhythm. Ramadan, Eid, Vaisakhi, Diwali and school holidays shape which weekends fill. See the wedding season calendar.
