Where the reference ranges come from
| Range in the calculator | Per head | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Simple menu | £14 to £20 | A Birmingham venue advertising halal catering "from £14 per head for a 3-course buffet"1. A Bradford hall's entry hall-and-food package at 200 guests, about £18 a head2 |
| Fuller menu | £20 to £30 | The same Bradford hall's mid-range packages, about £20 to £29 a head at 200 guests2. Bark's price guide gives £20 to £30 a head for a hot wedding buffet3 |
| Premium package | £30 to £45 | The Bradford hall's top packages, about £35 to £43 a head at 200 guests, which include extras such as a DJ, photographer and cars2 |
The Bradford figures are our sums: the package price divided by the guest number. They include hall hire, so the food alone would cost less. Bark is a lead marketplace for many services and its guide covers UK weddings in general, not only Asian weddings3.
Before you compare quotes
What changes the price
- Hall included or not. A hall-and-food package and a food-only quote aren't the same thing.
- Number of dishes. Starters, mains, rice, breads and desserts all add up. Compare menus dish by dish.
- Service style. Buffet, served to tables, or live stations such as a tawa or chaat counter.
- Staff, crockery and setup. Ask whether they are included or charged per head.
- Guest numbers. Per-head prices can fall as numbers rise on the same package2.
- Children. Ask how each caterer prices them.
- VAT. Check whether the quote includes it.

Questions
It varies with the menu, the city and whether the hall is included. When we checked in September 2026, one Birmingham venue advertised halal catering from £14 a head, and a Bradford banqueting hall's hall-and-food packages worked out between about £18 and £43 a head at 200 guests. Get quotes for your own date and numbers.
Multiply the price per head by the number of guests for each ceremony, then add the ceremonies together. Add any extras your caterer charges separately, such as live stations or dessert tables, and check whether staff, crockery and VAT are included.
Sometimes. Some halls sell packages with the hall and food together, priced per head or by guest numbers. Compare the total for the same number of guests, and check what each quote includes.
Some do. At the Bradford hall we checked, the price per head fell as guest numbers rose on the same package. Ask each caterer for a price at your exact numbers.
