Four well-known dhol groups that play Bradford weddings, in alphabetical order, are Apnabeat, The Band Baja Experience, Dhol Drillerz and Imperial Drummers. Some are based in Bradford and West Yorkshire, and some travel over from Greater Manchester. We checked each was trading on 30 September 2026. We have not ranked them, and none of them is on Nodus.
How we chose this list
This is a list of well-known names, not a ranking, put together and checked on 30 September 2026. We have not called it "best", because we could not collect star ratings in a way you could check and repeat. Here is what we did.
- Plays in Bradford. The group is based in Bradford or West Yorkshire, or says on its own website or public listing that it performs in Bradford.
- Plays weddings. Each one offers dhol for baraats, mehndis or receptions.
- Currently trading. Each has a live website, checked on 30 September 2026. Groups found only on directory listings, or whose website gave no clear sign of current trading, were left out.
- Facts from the source. Every detail below comes from the group's own website or listing. We have added no ratings, no unpublished prices and nothing private.
- Fair order. The list is alphabetical (ignoring "The").
Nobody paid to be listed, and we did not contact the groups. Run a Bradford dhol group we missed? Apply to join Nodus and tell us about it.

Apnabeat
An entertainment company that lists Manchester, Bolton, Bradford and Leeds among the areas it covers. Its dhol players perform in traditional, smart or themed outfits for entrances and processions, and it also offers DJs, bhangra and Bollywood dancers.
The Band Baja Experience
A Manchester-based dhol and brass band baja that mixes western brass with the Punjabi dhol. Bradford is one of the places it lists as available.
Dhol Drillerz
A group that says it has been in the wedding industry for over 20 years and can supply anything from dhol players to a full brass band baja with bhangra dancers. It lists Bradford, Dewsbury, Batley, Huddersfield, Halifax and Keighley among the places it has played.
Imperial Drummers
A West Yorkshire dhol company with a page for Bradford weddings. It says its players have over 15 years' experience and play baraat entrances, milni ceremonies and receptions for Punjabi, Sikh and Hindu weddings.
How to choose and what to agree
Start with the venue. Before you book any drums, ask your venue where a baraat can arrive, whether dhol can play outside, and until what time. Under national rules, a venue licensed to sell alcohol can host live or recorded music for up to 500 people between 8am and 11pm without extra permission (GOV.UK). If your venue does not hold an alcohol licence, different rules may apply, so ask what its own licence allows. Drums can disturb neighbours, so the answer may be a short arrival in the car park.
Watch a real performance. Ask for a recent, unedited video from a wedding, not a produced reel. Listen for timing, and watch how the players manage a crowd in a tight space.
Agree the line-up. How many drummers? Will there be a brass band, a shehnai or bagpipes? Who leads the groom in, and who leads the bride? Put names and numbers in the booking.
Agree the timing. A baraat can run late. Ask what happens if the groom's party is delayed, and whether waiting time costs extra.
Know what it costs. Most Bradford groups quote on request. As a guide, one national company lists three drummers and a saxophonist for a baraat from £580 (Bollywood Event Company). Ask what the price covers, including travel.
Deposits. In 2016 the Competition and Markets Authority said a deposit should be "no more than a small percentage of the total price" (CMA). Get the balance date and cancellation terms in writing.
For the questions to put to your venue about noise, finish times and outside arrivals, see questions to ask your venue. Our other checklists are in resources.
Dhol across a Bradford wedding
Dhol often leads the baraat, and many families want it at the mehndi too. Sikh and Hindu families may want dhol for the milni, the jaggo or the sangeet. Customs vary by family and region, so tell the group which events you need. If you book one group for several events, ask for a package price.
Tell your photographer and videographer when the drums will arrive, so they are in position, and warn elderly guests that it will be loud. Our mehndi night planning guide has a sample running order, our guide to mehndi artists in Bradford covers the henna, and the Bradford city guide lists well-known venues.
Booking music through Nodus
Nodus is one place to find, book and pay wedding vendors, with every booking confirmed in writing. When you book, you pay a deposit to confirm, then the balance before your event, each paid directly to your vendor through Stripe. Nodus is free for couples.
We are inviting Bradford dhol players and DJs to join now. Until they do, you can start planning in the app and keep your quotes together.

We do not rank dhol players, because we could not gather ratings in a way anyone could repeat. Four well-known groups that play Bradford weddings are Apnabeat, The Band Baja Experience, Dhol Drillerz and Imperial Drummers. Watch a recent video of each before you book.
Most Bradford groups quote on request. As a guide, one national company lists three drummers and a saxophonist for a baraat from £580. Price depends on the number of players, how long they play and how far they travel.
Ask the venue first. Some venues allow a baraat arrival in the car park or on the road outside, and some limit it because drums can disturb neighbours. Agree the time, place and length in writing with both the venue and the dhol group.
It depends on the booking. A baraat entrance may be short, while a mehndi or reception set can be longer. Agree the start time, finish time and any breaks in writing.
No. They are listed for local knowledge only and are not affiliated with Nodus. Nodus has no approved vendors yet. Dhol players who work in Bradford can apply to join as founding vendors.
