Based on published prices, checked 30 September 2026, a three-event Asian wedding in Leeds for about 300 guests costs roughly £25,700 for the core items: venue and food, photography and video, bridal hair and makeup, bridal mehndi and the legal registration. A smaller two-event wedding comes in near £10,900, and a large one with 500 guests at the main events near £51,000. Outfits, jewellery, decor and entertainment are on top.
Every figure comes from a price published by a venue listing, a vendor or Leeds City Council, checked on 30 September 2026. Leeds is the hardest of our three northern cities to price, because most of its Asian wedding halls describe their packages without printing a price. We explain how we handled that below. For the national view, see the real cost of a South Asian wedding in the UK.
Three budgets
The short answer
| Budget | What it covers | Core cost |
|---|---|---|
| Low | Mehndi for 100 and a wedding day for 200, weekday Civic Hall registration | £10,943 |
| Mid | Mehndi for 150, wedding day for 300, walima or reception for 300, Saturday Civic Hall | £25,743 |
| High | Mehndi for 200, wedding day for 500, walima or reception for 500, registrar at your venue | £51,038 |
Based on published prices, checked 30 September 2026. These are the sourced items only. The sections below show every line.
Why these figures differ from our £40,000 estimate. By our estimate, based on ONS and Census 2021 population data, a typical South Asian wedding in the UK costs around £40,000 in total. That figure has everything in it. The budgets here are built from published prices for the core items only, at guest numbers we chose. So the mid budget sits below a typical total before outfits, jewellery, decor and entertainment are added, and the high budget, with 500 guests at each main event, sits above it.
Method
How we built these numbers
What the ranges are built from
- Venue and food. Tagvenue, a venue marketplace, showed Leeds Asian wedding listings at £23 to £34 a person, averaging about £25 (September 2026). We used £23, £25 and £34 for low, mid and high. Tagvenue's Leeds page also lists venues in Bradford, Bingley, Harrogate and Saltaire, so it reflects the wider Leeds and Bradford market couples actually book from.
- Separate catering, for comparison. One caterer that serves Leeds and Bradford (MyLahore) publishes wedding packages at £50, £55, £65 and £75 a person, including crockery, linen, buffet set-up and an event manager.
- Photography and video. TLG Photography publishes £650 per function for photography (up to 7 hours) and £750, £1,000 or £1,800 for video, plus £0.45 a mile travel.
- Bridal hair and makeup. Ignite Hair, Beauty and Bridal, which covers Leeds: £250 for a mehndi look, £350 for the bridal or walima look, £90 for each trial.
- Bridal mehndi. Starting prices listed by ten Leeds artists on the MehndiMe directory: £180 to £800, median about £290.
- Registration. Leeds City Council's published 2026 fees, which are the most exact numbers on this page.
- National context. Bridebook's 2026 UK Wedding Report and Hitched's 2026 figures. Both come from wedding businesses, so treat them as industry surveys.
Why no Leeds hall prices? We looked. Yasin Banqueting Suite in Beeston publishes three packages in detail: full venue hire, a stage and feature wall, centrepieces, crockery, a wedding coordinator, parking attendants, a sound system and a set menu. It gives no prices and notes that prices may vary. Mumtaz Leeds offers exclusive use for up to 250 guests and says pricing depends on menu and event size. The Royal Armouries, which can host up to 2,500 guests, does not publish prices either. So the listing average is the best public benchmark we found.
Our assumptions. Guest numbers are ours, not a measured average; use the guest count planner for yours. One photo and video team and one bridal look per event. Prices as published; most pages do not say whether VAT is included.
How sure we are. The council fees are exact. The per-head band is a marketplace average, not a quote. Vendor prices are real but come from one or two businesses each. Named businesses are sources, not Nodus vendors or recommendations.
Low, mid and high
Breakdown by category
| Category | Low | Mid | High | Built from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Venue and food | £6,900 | £18,750 | £40,800 | 300, 750 or 1,200 guest places at £23, £25 or £34 |
| Photography and video | £2,800 | £4,950 | £7,350 | £650 photo plus £750, £1,000 or £1,800 video, per event |
| Bridal hair and makeup | £600 | £1,130 | £1,130 | £250 mehndi, £350 per main event, £180 trials |
| Bridal mehndi artist | £180 | £290 | £800 | Lowest, median and highest listed Leeds prices |
| Notice and registration | £463 | £623 | £958 | Leeds City Council 2026 fees |
| Core total | £10,943 | £25,743 | £51,038 |
Registration in each budget: giving notice costs £93 for two people. Then low uses a Tuesday or Thursday West Room ceremony (£370), mid a Saturday West Room ceremony (£530), and high a registrar at a licensed venue on a Saturday (£865). A basic ceremony on the last Monday of the month, with two guests, costs £118.50 and would cut the low total by £251.50.
Mid budget, 300 guests
Breakdown by ceremony
| Event | Guests | Venue and food | Photo and video | Hair and makeup | Mehndi artist | Event total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mehndi, sangeet or jaggo | 150 | £3,750 | £1,650 | £250 | £290 | £5,940 |
| Wedding day | 300 | £7,500 | £1,650 | £350 | £9,500 | |
| Walima or reception | 300 | £7,500 | £1,650 | £350 | £9,500 | |
| Trials and registration | £180 | £803 | ||||
| Total | £25,743 |
The wedding day is whatever your tradition calls it. For a Sikh wedding the anand karaj takes place at the gurdwara, often in the morning, so the paid venue is the reception. For a Muslim wedding the nikkah may be small, with the baraat and walima carrying most of the cost. Move the lines to match your plans.
Quotes
Getting a price from a hall that does not publish one
Because most Leeds halls quote privately, the quality of your enquiry decides how comparable the answers are. Send every hall the same short brief and ask for the reply in writing.
- Your date, the event (mehndi, baraat, walima or reception) and a realistic guest number, not the hopeful one
- The price per head at that number, and what happens if numbers go up or down
- Exactly what the package includes: stage, centrepieces, chairs, crockery, waiting staff, parking attendants, sound system
- Whether VAT is included
- The deposit, when the balance is due, and what happens if you cancel
- Whether you can bring your own caterer, decorator or mehndi artist, and any charge for doing so
Divide the quoted total by your guest number and compare it with the £23 to £34 band above. Our questions to ask your venue sheet has the full list.
Honest gaps
What these numbers leave out
- Bridal and groom outfits, and family outfits
- Jewellery
- Decor beyond what a hall package includes, such as a mandap, a separate mehndi stage or lighting
- DJ, dhol players and live music
- Religious ceremony costs, such as a granthi, imam or priest, and any gurdwara, mosque or mandir donation
- Invitations, transport, favours and mithai
- Travel charges for vendors coming from Bradford, Huddersfield or Manchester
- A contingency. We suggest 8 to 10% of your total from the start
Our national guide has estimated ranges for these categories. They are estimates, not published Leeds prices, so replace them with real quotes as they arrive.
Context
How Leeds compares with the UK average
| Measure | Figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| UK average wedding cost | £20,604 | Bridebook 2026 (about 7,000 couples) |
| Yorkshire and the Humber average | £18,769 | Bridebook 2026 |
| UK average wedding cost | £21,990 | Hitched, January 2026 (2,020 newlyweds) |
| UK average spend per guest | £272 to £278 | Hitched and Bridebook 2026 |
| UK venue and catering per guest | about £182 | Bridebook 2026 averages, 74 guests |
| Leeds venue and food per guest | about £23 to £34 | Tagvenue Leeds listings |
| Asian wedding average, UK | £55,000 | ShaadiSouk cost guide, seen September 2026 (method not published) |
- Per guest, Leeds is a fraction of the national figure. Bridebook's averages imply about £182 a guest on venue and food. Leeds listings average about £25.
- In total, a mid Leeds wedding is above the regional average. Our mid core of £25,743 is about £7,000 more than Bridebook's Yorkshire and the Humber average of £18,769, before outfits or decor, because it feeds ten times as many guest places.
- Leeds and Bradford price alike. Our mid Leeds build is within about £1,500 of Bradford's, and many vendors list both cities.
- Published prices are not a typical total. ShaadiSouk quotes £55,000 without publishing its method, and by our estimate a typical South Asian wedding in the UK costs around £40,000 in total. Our budgets count only the core items with published prices, so add the items above before comparing.
In the 2021 Census, 9.7% of Leeds residents identified as Asian or Asian British. By religion, 7.8% were Muslim, 1.2% Sikh and 1.1% Hindu.
Levers
Where Leeds budgets move
- Per-head band. For 750 guest places, the difference between £23 and £34 a head is £8,250.
- Registration day and place. From £211.50 for notice and a basic Monday ceremony to £1,063 for notice and a Sunday registrar at your venue.
- Mehndi artist. Listed starting prices run from £180 to £800.
- Vendors from out of town. Mileage adds up when your photographer, decorator and mehndi artist come from different cities.

Planning the money with Nodus
Try the free wedding budget planner to split a total across your events and categories, then compare it with the figures above. If both families are contributing, agree early who is paying for which event, because in many families each side hosts its own events.
In the Nodus app you can browse vendors, send enquiries and message them in one place, so every quote is in writing. When you book, you pay a deposit to confirm, then the balance before your event, each paid directly to your vendor through Stripe. A full budget tracker is coming.

Based on published prices, checked 30 September 2026, the core costs (venue and food, photography and video, bridal hair and makeup, bridal mehndi and registration) come to about £10,900 for two modest events, about £25,700 for three events of around 300 guests, and about £51,000 for three large events. Outfits, decor and entertainment are extra.
Tagvenue's Leeds Asian wedding listings showed per-person prices from £23 to £34, averaging about £25, in September 2026. Many Leeds banqueting halls describe packages without publishing prices, so ask for a written quote for your guest numbers and menu.
Leeds City Council charges £46.50 per person to give notice. In 2026 a Civic Hall West Room ceremony costs £370 on a Tuesday or Thursday, £475 on a Friday and £530 on a Saturday. A registrar at a licensed venue costs £695 to £970. A basic two-guest ceremony costs £118.50.
On the MehndiMe directory in September 2026, ten Leeds artists listed bridal mehndi from £180 to £800, with a median starting price of about £290. Detailed designs, feet and travel usually cost more than the starting price.
On published figures they are close. Our mid build is about £25,700 in Leeds and £24,200 in Bradford. Bradford has more package halls that publish all-in prices, and many vendors list both cities.
