What does an Asian wedding cost in Manchester? A sourced 2026 guide

Prices published by Greater Manchester venues, caterers and vendors, with the sums shown and a list of what we couldn't price.

By the Nodus team8 min read

Based on published prices, checked 30 September 2026, a three-event Asian wedding in Manchester for about 300 guests costs roughly £36,000 for the core items: venue hire and catering, photography and video, bridal hair and makeup, and bridal mehndi. A smaller two-event wedding comes in near £12,300, and a large one with 500 guests at the main events near £70,300. Registration, outfits, jewellery, decor and entertainment sit on top.

Every figure here comes from a price a Manchester venue, vendor or listing site publishes, checked on 30 September 2026. Where we could not find a price we trust, we leave it out and say so. For the national picture, read the real cost of a South Asian wedding in the UK.

Three budgets

The short answer

BudgetWhat it coversCore cost
LowMehndi for 100 and a wedding day for 200, entry-level hire and catering£12,250
MidMehndi for 150, wedding day for 300, walima or reception for 300£36,330
HighMehndi for 200, wedding day for 500, walima or reception for 500£70,330

Based on published prices, checked 30 September 2026. These totals exclude registration. Check the current notice and ceremony fees with Manchester's register office before you set a budget line for it.

Why these figures differ from our £40,000 estimate. By our estimate, based on ONS and Census 2021 population data, a typical South Asian wedding in the UK costs around £40,000 in total, for everything. The budgets here count only the core items, at published prices and at guest numbers we chose. So the mid budget sits a little below that typical total before outfits, decor and entertainment are added. The high budget, with 500 guests at each main event and top room hire, sits well above it, because it is priced for an unusually large wedding.

Method

How we built these numbers

Manchester works differently from Bradford. Fewer halls publish an all-in package price, and more venues charge for the room and let you bring a caterer. So we built each event from two parts: room hire plus food.

What the ranges are built from

  • Venue hire. Tagvenue, a venue marketplace, listed Manchester Asian wedding spaces with hire fees from £600 to £6,500 a day, per-person packages from £28 to £52, and an average minimum spend of £1,500 (September 2026). We used £600, £2,500 and £6,500 per event for low, mid and high. £2,500 is the listed day hire for a 350-guest suite at one city-centre hall.
  • Catering. Zouk, a Manchester restaurant and caterer, publishes wedding banquet prices of £25, £30 and £35 a head (two to four starters, three to five mains, two or three sides), minimum 50 guests. Crockery hire and service staff are offered on top.
  • Photography and video. TLG Photography, which works across Manchester, publishes £650 per day or function for photography (up to 7 hours) and £750, £1,000 or £1,800 per function for video, plus £0.45 a mile travel.
  • Bridal hair and makeup. Ignite Hair, Beauty and Bridal, which covers Manchester from Bradford: £250 for a mehndi look, £350 for the bridal or walima look, £90 for each trial.
  • Bridal mehndi. Starting prices listed by Manchester artists on the MehndiMe directory: about £80 to £350.
  • National context. Bridebook's 2026 UK Wedding Report and Hitched's 2026 figures. Both come from wedding businesses, so treat them as industry surveys rather than official statistics.

Our assumptions

  • Guest numbers are our assumption. Nobody publishes a reliable average for Manchester Asian weddings. Put your own into the guest count planner.
  • Photo and video for every event, and one bridal look per event.
  • Prices as published. Most pages do not say whether VAT is included.

How sure we are. The per-head food prices and vendor prices are published and current, but each comes from one or two businesses. The hire fee is the least certain line, because it ranges tenfold across venues. A community banqueting hall with in-house catering may come in well below our mid figure. Named businesses are sources, not Nodus vendors or recommendations.

Why there is no all-in hall price here. Several Greater Manchester halls built for Asian weddings describe their packages but not their prices. The Werneth Suite in Oldham, for example, lists Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum menus, from two starters and two mains up to five starters, with a minimum of 200 guests. Its FAQ says prices depend on the event and guest numbers. Without a published figure, we cannot put it in the sums. If you get a written quote from a hall like this, compare its per-head price with the £28 to £52 range above and with our mid build of £38.

Mid budget, 300 guests

Breakdown by ceremony

Many Manchester Asian weddings are several events, sometimes hosted by each side of the family. The wedding day is whatever your tradition calls it: a nikkah and barat, an anand karaj and reception, or a Hindu ceremony and reception.

EventGuestsHireCateringPhoto and videoHair and makeupMehndi artistEvent total
Mehndi or sangeet150£2,500£4,500£1,650£250£250£9,150

Walima or reception300£2,500£9,000£1,650£350£13,500
Trials£180£180
Total£36,330

If your pattern is different, move the lines rather than the totals. A nikkah held at a mosque or at home with close family may cost little beyond food, while the barat and walima carry most of the spend. A Sikh wedding has the anand karaj at the gurdwara, often in the morning, so the paid venue is the reception.

Many couples hold the legal registration separately from the religious ceremony. Our glossary entries on nikkah, anand karaj and walima explain the order of events.

Honest gaps

What these numbers leave out

We could not find published Manchester prices we trust for these. Add your own figures in the budget planner.

  • Registration: notice and ceremony fees
  • Bridal and groom outfits, and family outfits
  • Jewellery
  • Decor: the stage, mandap or nikkah setting, flowers and lighting
  • DJ, dhol players and live music
  • Religious ceremony costs, such as an imam, granthi or priest, and any donation
  • Crockery, staff and set-up if your caterer charges them separately
  • Invitations, transport, favours and mithai
  • A contingency. We suggest 8 to 10% of your total from the start

Decor is the biggest gap. At a hire-only venue you are usually starting with an empty room, so the stage and dressing can be a large line. Our national guide gives estimated ranges by category, but they are estimates rather than published Manchester prices.

What this tells you:

  1. Per guest, Manchester is still much cheaper than the national average. Bridebook's figures put venue, reception food and evening food at £13,448 for about 74 guests, roughly £182 each. Manchester Asian weddings feed guests for a fraction of that.
  2. In total, it is about double the North West average. A mid Manchester wedding feeds about 750 guest places across three events. The core total of £36,330 is roughly twice Bridebook's North West average of £17,342, and that is before outfits and decor.
  3. Manchester costs more than its Yorkshire neighbours. Our mid build is about £12,000 above the same wedding priced from published Bradford packages, mostly because of separate room hire.
  4. Published prices are not a typical total. ShaadiSouk quotes £55,000 without publishing its method, and by our estimate a typical South Asian wedding in the UK costs around £40,000 in total. Our budgets count only the core items with published prices, so add the gaps above before comparing.

The 2021 Census counted 389,283 Asian residents across Greater Manchester, and Pakistan was the most common overseas country of birth (89,331 people), followed by India (31,030). Oldham had the largest Bangladeshi population in the city region (21,754). The right venue for you may be outside the city centre.

Levers

Where Manchester budgets move

  • Room hire. It is the biggest swing. At £600 a day or £6,500 a day, the same three events differ by nearly £18,000 before any food.
  • Menu tier. For 750 guest places, moving from £25 to £35 a head adds £7,500.
  • Deposits. One Oldham banqueting hall asks for a minimum of £1,000 to secure a booking. Know each deposit before you commit, and read our guide to wedding deposits and cancellations.
  • Travel. Vendors who charge mileage cost more if your events are spread across Bolton, Oldham and south Manchester. Give every vendor the venue postcode, not just the town.

Questions

Based on published prices, checked 30 September 2026, the core costs (venue hire and catering, photography and video, bridal hair and makeup and bridal mehndi) come to about £12,300 for two modest events, about £36,300 for three events of around 300 guests, and about £70,300 for three large events. Registration, outfits, decor and entertainment are extra.

One Manchester caterer that publishes its wedding prices charges £25, £30 or £35 a head depending on the number of starters, mains and sides, with a minimum of 50 guests. Crockery hire and service staff are offered separately, so ask what the per-head price includes.

Tagvenue's Manchester Asian wedding listings showed hire fees from £600 to £6,500 a day, per-person packages from £28 to £52 and an average minimum spend of £1,500 in September 2026. Many community banqueting halls do not publish prices, so ask for a written quote.

On the MehndiMe directory in September 2026, Manchester artists listed bridal mehndi starting prices from about £80 to £350. Starting prices usually cover the hands only, so feet, detailed designs and travel cost more.

On published prices, yes. Venue and food in Manchester run at about £28 to £52 a head, against roughly £18 to £36 at Bradford package halls and £23 to £34 on Leeds listings. Much of the gap is room hire, because more Manchester venues charge for the room and the food separately.
