What does an Asian wedding cost in Bradford? A sourced 2026 guide

Real prices from Bradford halls and vendors, the maths behind every number, and an honest list of what we could not price.

By the Nodus team8 min read

Based on published prices, checked 30 September 2026, a three-event Asian wedding in Bradford for about 300 guests costs roughly £24,000 for the core items: venue and food, photography and video, bridal hair and makeup, bridal mehndi and the legal registration. A smaller two-event wedding comes in near £8,600, and a large one with 500 guests at the main events near £40,600. Outfits, jewellery, extra decor and entertainment sit on top of those figures.

Every number on this page comes from a price a Bradford business or the council publishes, checked on 30 September 2026. Where we could not find a price we trust, we say so rather than guess. This is the local, sourced version of our national guide, the real cost of a South Asian wedding in the UK.

MidMehndi for 150, wedding day for 300, walima or reception for 300£24,249
HighMehndi for 200, wedding day for 500, walima or reception for 500, top hall packages£40,593

Based on published prices, checked 30 September 2026. These are the sourced items only. Read on for how each line is built and what is missing.

Why these figures differ from our £40,000 estimate. By our estimate, based on ONS and Census 2021 population data, a typical South Asian wedding in the UK costs around £40,000 in total, with everything in it. The budgets on this page are built from published prices for the core items only, so they leave out outfits, jewellery, extra decor and entertainment. Add those to the mid budget and a Bradford wedding can reach a typical total.

Method

How we built these numbers

We started from the costs a couple can actually look up, then did the sums in the open.

What the ranges are built from

  • Venue and catering. One Bradford banqueting venue, The Grand by Jalwa, publishes full package prices by guest count. Its packages include starters, mains, rice, roti, dessert, soft drinks, a floral stage, centrepieces, kitchen staff and waiter service. We cross-checked against Tagvenue, a venue marketplace, whose Bradford Asian wedding listings average £23 a person.
  • Separate catering, for comparison. One caterer serving Bradford (MyLahore) publishes wedding packages from £50 to £75 a person.
  • Photography and video. The same venue's published photo and film packages: from £850 (one photographer, one camera operator, up to 6 hours), £1,250 and £1,650.
  • Bridal hair and makeup. Ignite Hair, Beauty and Bridal in Bradford: £250 for a mehndi look, £350 for the bridal or walima look, £90 for each trial.
  • Bridal mehndi. Starting prices listed by about 30 Bradford artists on the MehndiMe directory: £100 to £450, median about £250.
  • Registration. Bradford Council's published fees: £46.50 per person to give notice, then City Hall or approved-venue ceremony fees.
  • National context. Bridebook's 2026 UK Wedding Report and Hitched's 2026 figures. Both are produced by wedding businesses that sell to couples and vendors, so treat them as industry surveys rather than official statistics.

Our assumptions

  • Guest numbers are our assumption, not a measured average. Nobody publishes a reliable figure for Bradford Asian weddings. Use the guest count planner to put your own numbers in.
  • One set of photo and video per event, and one bridal look per event.
  • Prices are as published. The venue's page does not say whether VAT is included, so ask.

How sure we are. The registration fees are exact. The venue, makeup and mehndi prices are real published prices, but they come from a small number of businesses, and published prices are starting points. Treat each total as a sensible middle, not a promise. Named businesses are our sources, not Nodus vendors or recommendations.

How the venue line is made up:

  • Low: 100 guests on the entry package (£2,250) plus 200 guests on the entry package (£3,650).
  • Mid: 150 guests on the mid package in the smaller suite (£3,250), then 300 guests on the Signature package in the large suite twice (£7,750 each).
  • High: 200 guests on the top package in the smaller suite (£4,250), then 500 guests on the Diamond package twice (£14,550 each). The Diamond package already includes an in-house DJ, photographer, videographer, cake and cars, so a couple choosing it might not need a separate photo team. We still counted one, because many couples book their own photographer across all events.

If you hire a venue and bring your own caterer. Not every family wants a package hall. Hotels and hire-only venues charge a room fee, and you book food separately. One caterer serving Bradford publishes wedding packages at £50, £55, £65 and £75 a person, including crockery, cutlery, glassware, table linen, buffet set-up and an event manager. At those prices, food alone for the mid budget's 750 guest places would be £37,500 to £56,250 before any room hire. Package halls fold venue, food and a stage into one per-head price, which is why they can work out much cheaper. Our guide to Asian wedding catering cost per head covers how to compare caterer quotes line by line.

Mid budget, 300 guests

Breakdown by ceremony

Many Bradford weddings are several events, often hosted by different sides of the family. Here is the mid budget split by event. The wedding day is whatever your tradition calls it: a nikkah with the baraat, an anand karaj and reception, or a Hindu ceremony and reception.

EventGuestsVenue and foodPhoto and videoHair and makeupMehndi artistEvent total
Mehndi or sangeet150£3,250£1,250£250£250£5,000
Wedding day300£7,750£1,250£350£9,350
Walima or reception300£7,750£1,250£350£9,350

Total£24,249

The registration line assumes giving notice (£93 for two people) and a Saturday ceremony at City Hall (£276). Many couples hold the legal ceremony separately from the religious one. See nikkah and anand karaj in our glossary for why.

Honest gaps

What these numbers leave out

We could not find published Bradford prices we trust for these. They are real costs, so put your own figures against each one in the budget planner.

  • Bridal and groom outfits, and outfits for the family
  • Jewellery
  • Decor beyond the floral stage in the package, such as a separate mehndi stage or entrance
  • DJ, dhol players and live music (included only in the top package)
  • Religious ceremony costs, such as an imam, granthi or priest, and any gurdwara, mosque or mandir donation
  • Invitations and stationery
  • Transport (included only in the top packages)
  • Favours, mithai and gifts
  • A contingency. We suggest setting aside 8 to 10% of your total from the start

For a sense of scale on some of these, our national guide gives estimated ranges by category. Those are estimates, not local published prices.

  1. Per head, Bradford is far cheaper. Bridebook's averages put venue hire, reception food and evening food at £13,448 for about 74 guests, or roughly £182 each. A Bradford package hall feeds, seats and serves a guest for £18 to £36.
  2. In total, it often costs more. A mid Bradford wedding feeds about 750 guest places across three events. That is ten times the national average guest count, so the total lands above the UK average even at a fraction of the per-head cost.
  3. Published prices and typical totals answer different questions. ShaadiSouk, a wedding marketplace, quotes £55,000 for a UK Asian wedding without publishing its method. By our estimate, a typical South Asian wedding in the UK costs around £40,000 in total. Our mid Bradford core of £24,249 counts only the items with published prices, so with outfits, decor and the other items above it could reach a typical total.

In the 2021 Census, 25.5% of Bradford District residents identified as Pakistani and 30.5% as Muslim, with Indian (2.6%) and Bangladeshi (2.3%) communities and smaller Sikh and Hindu populations (0.9% each).

Levers

Where Bradford budgets move

  • Guest count. On the published Signature package, going from 300 to 400 guests adds £2,000, about £20 for each extra guest. Adding 50 guests to each of three events adds roughly £2,700 to £3,000.
  • Package tier. For 300 guests, moving from the Signature package (£7,750) to the Diamond package (£10,550) adds £2,800 but bundles a DJ, photographer, videographer, cake, dessert table and cars.
  • Registration day. Giving notice and marrying at City Hall on a Monday costs £167.50 in total. A registrar at your venue on a Saturday costs £713.
  • Mehndi artist. Listed starting prices run from £100 to £450, so the same line can vary by £350 before you add guest mehndi.

Questions

Based on published prices, checked 30 September 2026, the core costs (venue and catering, photography and video, bridal hair and makeup, bridal mehndi and registration) come to about £8,600 for two modest events, about £24,200 for three events of around 300 guests, and about £40,600 for three large events. Outfits, jewellery, extra decor and entertainment are on top.

One Bradford banqueting venue that publishes its prices charges £3,650 for 200 guests on its entry package (about £18 a head) and £7,750 for 300 guests on its mid package (about £26 a head), including food, soft drinks, a floral stage and waiter service. Tagvenue's Bradford listings average £23 a person.

On the MehndiMe directory in September 2026, Bradford artists listed bridal mehndi from £100 to £450, with a median starting price of about £250. These are starting prices, so detailed designs, feet and travel usually cost more.

Bradford Council charges £46.50 per person to give notice. A ceremony at City Hall costs from £74.50 on a Monday to £276 on a Saturday, and a registrar at an approved venue costs £500 to £692 depending on the day. Each fee includes one certificate.

Per guest, yes by a wide margin. Bridebook's 2026 averages imply about £182 per guest on venue and catering, while Bradford package halls publish prices of roughly £18 to £36 a head. Totals end up similar or higher because Bradford Asian weddings often have several events and far more guests.
