Here is how the calendar will work, and a ten-minute weekly routine to keep your dates right.
The reason
Why your calendar matters
For a South Asian wedding the date is usually fixed early, often around the venue, religious dates and school holidays. A couple who has a date wants vendors who are free on it, and nothing else.
- More of the right enquiries. Once date filtering is live, a vendor whose calendar shows them free can appear for couples searching that date.
- Fewer wasted replies. Couples with dates you have blocked will not see you as available, so you spend less time saying no.
- A stronger profile. Keeping availability up to date is one of the things the planned vendor profile score will look at.
How it will work
The three states
| State | What it means | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Available | You can take a booking on this date | Your default for working days |
| On hold | Pencilled in while a family decides | After a quote, for a set number of days |
| Blocked | You cannot work this date | Confirmed bookings, religious days, holidays, personal commitments |
You will mark date ranges in one go, so blocking a week away or a run of religious days takes seconds. When a couple pays the deposit on a Nodus booking, the event date will be blocked automatically. Bookings you take elsewhere, by phone or through your own site, you block by hand.
Multi-hall venues and part-day slots are coming too, for venues with more than one hall and for vendors who can fit more than one booking into a day.
Launch day
Set it up in one sitting
Block what is already booked
Go through your diary, WhatsApp and emails, and block every date with a confirmed booking for the next 18 months.
Block the days you never work
Religious days, family commitments and holidays. Use the 2027 wedding season calendar for Eid, Vaisakhi, Diwali and more.
Hold what is pending
Any date where you have sent a quote and are waiting on a family goes on hold, with a note of when the hold ends.
Leave the rest available
Everything else stays open, so couples searching those dates can find you.
The routine
Keep it current
- Block a date the moment a booking is confirmed, wherever it came from.
- Put a date on hold when you send a quote, and set an end date for the hold.
- Release holds that have run out, and tell the family politely before you do.
- Once a week, spend ten minutes checking the next three months against your diary.
- Once a month, look further ahead and block new religious days and holidays.
- Before peak season, check every Saturday from May to September.
A calendar that says you are free when you are not costs you trust. Families remember a vendor who replied "sorry, we're booked" to a date that looked open.
A fair hold
Holds and families
South Asian weddings are often decided by the whole family, so a quick yes is rare. A hold gives them time without leaving your date open-ended. Agree how long it lasts, often a week or two, say so in writing, and follow up before it ends. Our enquiry reply templates include a polite follow-up.
Questions
Not yet. It is coming to the app. This guide explains how it will work so you can have your dates ready for launch.
Couples usually search with a date already fixed. Once date filtering launches on Nodus, vendors with current calendars can show up for couples whose date is free for them, and avoid enquiries for dates they cannot do.
Available means you can take a booking. On hold means a family is deciding, or you have pencilled the date in. Blocked means you cannot work that day, because of another booking, a religious day or a personal commitment.
That is the plan. When a couple pays the deposit on a Nodus booking, the event date will be blocked automatically. Bookings you take elsewhere need to be blocked by hand.
Every time you hold, book or release a date, plus a ten-minute check once a week. An out-of-date calendar costs you enquiries and wastes couples' time.
