Manchester has more bridal mehndi artists than almost anywhere in the north, which makes choosing harder. Here are five names families mention, and what to check before you pay a deposit.

Five well-known mehndi artists working in Manchester, in alphabetical order, are Aesthetic Henna Studio, Heavenly Henna, Henna By IQ, Mehendi By Arwa and Uzmas. All of them do bridal mehndi, and we checked each was trading on 30 September 2026. We have not ranked them, and none of them is on Nodus.

How we chose this list

This is a list of well-known names, not a ranking, put together and checked on 30 September 2026. We have not called it "best", because we could not gather star ratings in a way you could check and repeat. This is what we did instead.

  • Works in Manchester. The artist or company is based in Greater Manchester, or says on its own website that it covers Manchester.
  • Does bridal mehndi. Each one offers bridal henna, not only party or festival henna.
  • Has its own website. Every business below has a live website, checked on 30 September 2026. Artists found only on social media were left out this time, because we could not check that they are still trading.
  • Facts from the source. Each detail comes from the business's own website. We have added no ratings, no prices they do not publish, and nothing private.
  • Fair order. The list is alphabetical.

Nobody paid to be listed, and we did not contact the artists. Run a Manchester mehndi business we missed? Apply to join Nodus and tell us about it.

Aesthetic Henna Studio

A henna studio in Middleton, founded by Seerat Khan. It offers bridal henna and bridal mehndi from the studio or as a mobile service across Manchester and Greater Manchester, as well as henna for guests and events.

Heavenly Henna

Nilofer, the artist behind Heavenly Henna, says she has over 20 years' experience and uses only natural ingredients. She is based in Greater Manchester, travels to Liverpool, Cheshire and Wales, and offers free bridal consultations.

Henna By IQ

A professional henna artist based in Old Trafford and mobile across the North West, including homes, venues and hotels. It says it uses natural henna and gives aftercare guidance to protect the stain.

Mehendi By Arwa

An artist based in Hazel Grove, Stockport, with over 10 years' experience who takes bridal and party bookings and travels for weddings. The site shows traditional and contemporary designs.

Uzmas

A Manchester company with a studio in Baguley, near the airport. It offers mehndi and bridal makeup as well as photography and video, and says it has female and male teams. Its website names TLG Photography & Makeup as a sister company, so we list the two once.

How to choose between them

Start with the stain. Most artists post the fresh paste, because it photographs well. Ask to see the colour a day or two later, on a bride whose skin tone is close to yours. That is what you will see in your photographs.

Check what is in the cone. Natural henna stains orange to brown and darkens over a day or two. The British Skin Foundation warns that so-called black henna can contain PPD, a hair dye chemical that can cause blistering, painful burns and scarring, and that its use on skin is illegal in the UK (British Skin Foundation). Ask the artist what goes into their paste, and ask for a patch test if you have sensitive skin.

Agree coverage and time. Bridal mehndi can mean hands only, or hands, arms, feet and legs. Agree the coverage, the number of hours and the start time in writing.

Decide who does the guests. At a big Manchester mehndi, one artist cannot do everyone. One published London price list quotes guest henna from £50 an hour, or £5 a design, at about 12 simple designs an hour. For 60 guests, that is roughly five artist-hours, so ask whether the artist brings a second person.

Deposits and cancellation. Ask what the deposit is, when the balance is due, and what happens if the artist is ill on the day. In 2016 the Competition and Markets Authority said a deposit should be "no more than a small percentage of the total price" (CMA).

Plan the day itself. Bridal mehndi takes hours, so choose a quiet room with good light and somewhere comfortable for the bride to sit. Ask the artist for aftercare instructions in writing, and follow them, because how the paste is treated after application affects the final colour. Keep hair and makeup trials for another day.

Mehndi across a Manchester wedding

Where the mehndi falls in the wedding week varies by family, faith and region. Some families hold a mehndi for each side, and others hold it alongside a sangeet, haldi or jaggo. The artist's diary is often the first thing to fix, because the bride's mehndi has to fall one to two days before the main event.

If the mehndi night is at a venue rather than at home, ask the venue about staging and seating for the bride, and whether the artist can set up early. Some families book a decorator for the mehndi stage too. Our guide to Asian wedding decorators in Manchester covers that, and the Manchester city guide covers venues and caterers. For the whole evening, see our mehndi night planning guide.

Booking mehndi through Nodus

Nodus is one place to find, book and pay wedding vendors, with every booking confirmed in writing. When you book, you pay a deposit to confirm, then the balance before your event, each paid directly to your vendor through Stripe. Nodus is free for couples.

We are inviting Manchester mehndi artists to join now. Until they do, you can start planning in the app and keep your quotes together.

Questions

We do not rank artists, because we could not collect ratings in a way anyone could repeat. Five well-known names working in Manchester are Aesthetic Henna Studio, Heavenly Henna, Henna By IQ, Mehendi By Arwa and Uzmas. Compare their recent bridal work and ask for a consultation.

Most Manchester artists do not publish bridal prices, so ask for a written quote that says which areas are covered, how long it takes and whether travel is included. For guest henna, one published London price list quotes £50 an hour or £5 a design.

One to two days before the wedding is common. Natural henna deepens over the next 24 to 48 hours, so the colour is at its darkest on the day.

Most bridal mehndi artists in Manchester are women. If the whole mehndi night is women-only, also check the photographer and videographer. Uzmas says it offers female teams for segregated events.

No. They are listed for local knowledge only and are not affiliated with Nodus. Nodus has no approved vendors yet. Mehndi artists in Manchester can apply to join as founding vendors.
